Actor John Cusack managed to survive as a conservative in Hollywood for 30 years by keeping his mouth shut and keeping quiet about his views.
However, then Barack Obama became president, and Cusack knew that he could not stay silent any longer.
Cusack has become known in conservative circles for a scathing essay he wrote in 2013 that described Obama as “just another Ivy League a**hole.” Knowing this, the media came to Cusack for a comment when it was revealed that Obama is now less popular than former president George W. Bush this week.
Never one to miss a chance to slam Obama, Cusack was happy to say exactly what he thought about the president when comparing him to Bush.
“His domestic policy is a bit different, but when you talk about drones, the American Empire, the NSA, civil liberties, attacks on journalism and whistleblowers, he’s as bad or worse than Bush,” Cusack said.
And he didn’t stop there!
He hasn’t started as many wars, but he’s extended the ones we had, and I don’t even think Dick Cheney or Richard Nixon would say the president has the right to unilaterally decide whom he can kill around the world. On Tuesdays, the president can just decide whom he wants to kill, and you know, since 9/11 there are magic words like “terror,” and if you use magic words, you can justify any power grab you want.
It’s very risky to criticize Obama in Hollywood, a liberal Mecca where the president is still worshipped like a deity. Cusack, however, doesn’t give a hoot about this. He’s not afraid of liberal sheep, he just wants Americans to know the truth about their president. Keep up the good work, John!
