Over the last few days, we’ve been reporting on the controversy surrounding the comments Donald Trump made about Mexico during his campaign announcement last week.

In his speech, Trump slammed the U.S.’s relationship with Mexico, saying it has become a huge problem. He also said that too many criminals are coming into this country illegally from Mexico, and called many of them “rapists.”

Outraged by his comments, the Spanish-language television station Univision immediately announced that they would not be broadcasting Trump’s Miss Universe pageant this summer. Days later, NBC followed suit by ending their relationship with Trump, which they had built for over a decade.

On Tuesday, the hosts of the Miss USA competition both abruptly quit, leaving the July 12 pageant without a host. Mexico also dropped out of the Miss Universe pageant as a boycott of Trump and his comments.

Now, Latina actress Eva Longoria has broken her silence to slam Donald Trump, going so far as to compare him to dictator Adolf Hitler. While speaking at an event for the National Association of Latino Independent Producers, Longoria said that Trumps comments about Mexicans reminded her of the evil dictator who ordered the executions of around 11 million civilians before and during World War II.

“What I think he doesn’t understand and what people don’t understand is words create emotional poison…Hitler moved a nation with words, just words,” Longoria said, according to Breitbart. “So you have to expect this backlash. If you say something like that, as he has said, you must expect a backlash.”

The Mexican-American actress added that Trump’s speech “struck a cord within our community that touched our emotions so deep that I don’t want to contribute to that poison being spread.”

Trump will likely be unfazed by Longoria’s comments, just as he has been with all the backlash from his comments. While the furor has hurt his reputation among liberals, conservatives appear to respect Trump’s unwillingness to back down to the liberal mob. On Wednesday, it was revealed that Trump is currently polling second among GOP candidates, just behind Jeb Bush.
