Jake Gyllenhaal is a Hollywood star who was nominated for an Oscar for his performance as a closeted gay man in the film Brokeback Mountain.

Though he is primarily known for playing a gay man, Gyllenhaal revealed this week that he is actually a huge advocate for traditional marriage. During a recent interview with Howard Stern to promote his new movie Southpaw, Gyllenhaal risked everything to take a stand for the traditional institution of marriage.

“There are a lot of beautiful women and there are opportunities but I believe in monogamy,” Gyllenhaal said, according to The Political Insider. “I believe in, when you meet somebody who’s right, it’ll be right and you’ll stay there.”

Believer or not, statements like this are seen as VERY controversial in Hollywood these days. In that liberal Mecca, men and women are encouraged to never settle down and to experiment with all genders. We applaud Gyllenhaal for taking a stand for traditional marriage, even though it could put his standing in Hollywood at risk.
