On the Duck Dynasty season finale this week, the Robertson family did something that NOBODY saw coming.

The episode focused on the wedding of Willie and Korie Robertson’s son John Luke to his bride Mary Kate McEacharn. Though fans had been expecting the wedding all season, nobody expected Willie to officiate it!

According to The Political Insider, Willie took this opportunity to give the 800 wedding attendees some insights about marriage. He said a marriage is like constructing a house in that it takes a lot of patience and work. After this, Willie said something incredibly beautiful:

To John Luke and Mary Kate, I’m so proud of you both, and I wish you all the best in life. May you be blessed with many children, wealth, and prosperity– but most importantly, the kind of happiness that can only come from the love of God and of each other. The book of Romans tells us that good things happen to those who love each other and God, so be patient, because in the end it’s all worth it.

Sticking to their Christian values, the bride and groom did not have typical debaucherous bachelor and bachelorette parties. Instead, Mary Kate had a luncheon with her bridesmaids, and John Luke went skydiving with his groomsmen.

“I felt like I felt before I jumped out of the plane—my heart is kind of racing but you know that you’re doing it, you’re jumping out of the plane, that’s kind of how it feels,” John Luke said of the wedding.

God bless the Robertson family, and we wish Mary Kate and John Luke the best of luck in their marriage!
