This video shows a mother elephant frantically dig for 11 hours trying to save her baby, who had fallen into a well.

According to Daily Mail, the infant was trapped in the well from around 9pm to 8am. During that time, the mother refused to leave her baby as she desperately tried to save it. At one point, onlookers panicked because the mother’s hysterical digging was actually pushing MORE mud on the baby, effectively smothering it.

Luckily, the mother’s efforts finally paid off, and the story had a happy ending.

“We chopped off a few banana trucks and put it near the well so that the mother elephant moved away for sometime,” said Jitendra Tiwari, who filmed the incident. “The plan worked and we used the time remove the heap of sand deposited near the well that was making it difficult for her to rescue the baby.”

Later on, the mother and her baby were spotted walking in the jungle happily.
