Pennsylvania State Police have revealed that a gunman who started a shootout with police at a Walmart over the weekend is currently undergoing surgery for two bullet wounds.

According to Daily Mail, the man was randomly firing a semi-automatic rifle in a Walmart parking lot in Wilkes-Barre Township when police arrived on the scene at around 12:30 pm on Saturday. After the gunman shot at them, police returned fire and hit him twice.

Though multiple rounds were exchanged, State police Capt. James Degnan confirmed that nobody else was hurt. The shooter was reportedly wounded in his abdomen and thigh.

Tina Wagner, an assistant manager at the Walmart store, said the shooter never interacted with store customers.

“We kept all our associates and customers safe,” she told reporters.

“I think we were here right in the time frame when (the police) just got the call,” recounted AnaMaria Antonesca, who was with her children inside the Walmart during the shooting. “That’s when they were worried about locking the doors.”

“They wouldn’t let anyone evacuate, but they were more worried about locking everything down so the shooter wouldn’t get in,” she added. “I think at that point the shooter was scrambling around trying to get away.”

Thank God nobody else was hurt in this shooting!
