A homeowner in Pevely, Illinois was sick and tired of obnoxious kids driving on his lawn, so he decided to do something about it.

According to Conservative Tribune, the anonymous man placed boards with nails sticking out of them in the grass on his property so that they would ruin the tires of anyone who drove on it.

“They were painted black and they were buried in the ground, and it made it very difficult to see,” Pevely Police Chief Ron Weeks told KMOV last year, when the incident occurred.

Neighbors voiced concerns about the boards, saying that they understood why he did it but that they were also dangerous. Police eventually removed the boards from the man’s lawn and fined him, but Pevely city ordinances would not comment on whether or not it was legal for authorities to do this.

Just to be safe, Pevely officials later introduced legislation to ban all booby traps.
