In the early hours of Wednesday morning, police launched a six hour siege on the Paris apartment where they believed the mastermind of last week’s terrorist attacks was hiding along with six other jihadists.

According to Daily Mail, the gunfight began at 4:25 am when a SWAT team surrounded the building they said contained Abdelhamid Abaaoud, 27, who designed Friday’s terrorist attack that left 129 people dead. A woman “with long blonde hair,” who is believed to be Abaaoud’s jihadi wife, fired an AK-47 at police before blowing herself up with a suicide vest as cops stormed the apartment.

Another terror suspect was killed by a grenade blast as police entered the building. The other five suspects were taken alive. It has not yet been revealed if Abaaoud himself is living or dead.

At least five police officers were injured in the shootout, with one being carried from the scene after being shot in the foot. The terrorists also shot a seven-year-old sniffer dog named Diesel dead after he was sent into an alley to look for booby traps.

Police reportedly had been surveilling the apartment complex for some time, but they swooped after fears that the group was about to attack Paris’s business district. Witnesses described a harrowing scene of long, intense machine gun fire exchanges and at least seven large explosions.

We can only hope and pray that this finally puts an end to the deadly attacks in Paris. What do you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
