Abbie Sherman was a typical teenage girl. Active in sports, she played basketball and excelled at karate. And then her life changed.

The seventeen year old Alabama girl was diagnosed with Transverse myelitis, a neurological disorder that affects the spinal cord. She now uses a wheelchair.

Abbie’s hero is American Idol winner Carrie Underwood. And the teen was recently thrilled to learn that she will be flying to Las Vegas to meet with Underwood.

She will meet the country legend in August at Party For A Cause Festival. Kenny Chesney and Dierks Bentley will also be performing at the Las Vegas event.

Avadian Credit Union and Magic Moments presented Abbie with the surprise.

“We were so excited and honored to present Abbie with this moment,” Stanton Davis of Avadian said in a press release. “From playing sports to suddenly being dependent on a wheelchair, we can’t imagine what a shock it has been for her and her family. We hope this trip to see one of her idols is a welcome diversion and an experience she’ll never forget.”

Magic Moments grants wishes to chronically ill Alabama children. They have fulfilled over 4,300 wishes.
