Parents have released disturbing footage of their toddler being strangled by a window blind corder in order to raise awareness of this “silent killer.”

Ten years ago, Gavin Walla’s mother Nicky was filming her two little boys playing in their Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin home when she turned to pick up her phone. She then turned around to a nightmare…

According to Daily Mail, the camera panned back around to Gavin hanging silently and lifelessly by the cord. Nicky screamed and dropped the camera, and that’s where the chilling footage ends.

Thankfully, Gavin survived thanks to the quick thinking of his father, Nate, who rushed over and started squeezing the boy until he started breathing again.

“I somehow got Gavin off the window blinds, but I don’t actually remember lifting him off,” Nicky recalled to ABC News.

“I kind of squeezed him a little bit and then he gasped for air,” Nate explained.

“We were the lucky ones,” Nate and Nicky said together.

Nate added, “If you can call it that.”

Today, Gavin is 17 years-old, and he has gone on to lead a completely normal life. His family has released the footage to raise awareness about how dangerous window blind cords are to children.
