Today, every school in Los Angeles was closed after the area received what authorities have called a “credible terror threat.”

Now, it has been revealed that a 17 year-old student was killed this morning after finding out that his school was closed. The unnamed teen was making his way to Los Angeles International Charter High School at 7:30am when an L.A. city street services truck struck him. Tony Torres, the school’s director of recruitment, lamented that, “the decision to close the school came very late. So people were still heading to school.”

According to The LA Times, the teen had just been accepted to film school at film school at Cal State L.A. School administrators say that though they know who the teen is, they will not be releasing his name until the coroner has formally identified him and his family has been notified. Clifford Moseley, the charter school’s executive director, described the teenager as “an awesome student.”

“He was a very good student. Very popular,” Moseley added. “Good kid.”

Police are saying that there is “no indication this is anything other than an accident.”

Please keep this family in your prayers after this devastating death.
