When Dolly Parton was asked to sing on The Voice, she sang a touching song about her childhood.

Dolly grew up in a poor family — she was the seventh of 12 children. One year, her mother made her a coat  out of rags that had been given to the family. As her mom sewed the coat, she told Dolly about the story of Joseph’s coat of many colors from the Bible. Even when her fellow classmates laughed at it, Dolly wore her coat proudly.

Parton’s NBC show bearing the same name was met with rave reviews. 12.8 million viewers tuned in to see the 2-hour special, making it the most watched show on the four big mainstream networks in four years.
