Chilling footage from Japan appears to show a ghost child floating around a man’s home. While this may seem terrifying, in Japanese folklore this phenomenon is actually supposed to bring good luck to a home.

According to Daily Mail, the footage was recently uploaded to Facebook by the Japanese homeowner, and it first shows the child floating from the left of the screen towards the light. It then crouches and disappears, only to reappear on the right side of the light and hover over it. After that, it vanishes completely.

The homeowner claimed it was a zashiki-warashi, which is a famed character in Japanese legends. The ghost takes the form of a 5 or 6 year-old child, and is known for being a child-like figure who enjoys playing pranks. Once it takes over a property, the homeowner is believed to have good fortune from then on.
