17 year old Patrick Sullivan was killed in a tragic car accident in Rockland, Massachusetts. But, the kindness of one man is helping show friends that people care.

Patrick’s friends were obviously shocked. 22 of them gathered at a local restaurant after the wake to celebrate his life and try to come to grips with the loss of their friend. But, when they asked for the bill, it had already been paid. A local police officer picked up the bill in silence without bringing attention to himself. He simply wanted to do something nice for these grieving kids.

It doesn’t take long for word to get around Rockland. Soon it was discovered the $400 bill was paid for by Sgt. Greg Pigeon. Pigeon grew up in Rockland too. While $400 is a large sum for a police officer, he gave big because he obviously wanted the kids to know the community supports them.

This story is just one of many in which police officers go above and beyond to serve our community. These men and women put their lives and their hearts on the line for our safety. They are also part of the communities where they work. And when we grieve during difficult times, they do as well.
