You may want to take a few minutes to check your change after learning about this. A 1943 Lincoln penny sold at auction for $1 million.

During WWII, pennies were made of steel as the copper was needed for war efforts. But, a handful of copper pennies were produced and they are now much more valuable than their intended worth of only one cent.

Bob Simpson, co-chair of the Texas Rangers paid the high price for this special penny. But, it’s not the only penny that has sold at auction for 7 figures. As you can see in the video below, the first penny ever issued also was grabbed up at an auction for big bucks.

Turning a penny into a million dollars is like hitting the lottery. Are you going to check your change?
