Sometimes love knows no boundaries. It can transcend time and distance. That is true with this story.

Norwood Thomas was a 21 year old United States paratrooper when he met 17 year old Joyce Morris in London before D-Day. The two immediately hit it off. Thomas even proposed to Joyce and asked her to move to the US, but she misunderstood his letter and thought he had met someone else, so she stopped writing.

After the war, Norwood returned home and Joyce moved to Australia. Thanks to the internet and many helping hands, the couple has reunited for the first time in 70 years.

About a year ago, Joyce asked her son to look for Thomas online. They located him because of an article about D-Day. The two started using Skype to reconnect. Joyce told Morris she kept a picture of him and said good morning to it every day.

After their story went public, hundreds of people donated so Thomas could fly to Australia to be with Joyce for Valentine’s Day.

The couple are very happy to reunite and spend time together. But, Thomas is already lamenting leaving Joyce to return home. “Yes I’m sure there will be [tears]… especially when we leave,” he said.

Wow! If you enjoyed this story, please share!
