The federal government is proving its incompetence once again. On Wednesday, the IRS stopped accepting electronic filings because of issues with its computer systems.

Several tax processing centers were affected by hardware failure. The IRS issued a statement saying, “The IRS is currently in the process of making repairs and working to restore normal operations as soon as possible.”

Isn’t this convenient timing as people are requesting their refunds? They don’t expect major disruptions to refunds, but given the government’s standards, I’m wondering what they consider to be a major disruption. Holding onto the average American’s refund for even a couple days can cause them major inconvenience.

What is it with the IRS having computer errors? This reminds me of Lois Lerner’s troubles with her emails being unobtainable and then her hard drive being shredded. Oops. How convenient.

Never underestimate the government’s ability to keep you from your money. Watch the video below for more details.

How will you react if your refund is affected? Please share your thoughts.
