An ultrasound of twins is showcasing the humanity and love between the siblings.

Brittani and Ian McIntire were surprised when they found out they were expecting as they weren’t planning on having anymore children. They learned they were having twins. Their excitement was later tempered when they found out one of the twins was dying.

They named their unborn fraternal twins Mason and Madilyn. Mason has a hole in his heart and a brain abnormality. He isn’t growing properly. He weighs just 9 ounces while Madilyn weighs over 2 pounds.

While getting an ultrasound, they were given a gift that is so heartbreaking and beautiful at the same time. Marilyn and Mason were captured holding hands. The difference in size is as obvious as the bond between the two.

“We know we have a piece of them together that will last forever… and it’s special to have,” Brittani said. “It’s just nice with everything going on… I know I’m holding him, I’m carrying him but I just want to be there for him,” the mom added. “She’s the only one who can actually be there and is holding onto him… so it’s comforting to know that if he does pass, he won’t be alone.”

This ultrasound is quite a statement about the humanity of unborn children. They feel pain and they are in tune with one another.
