Earlier this week, former Speaker of the House John Boehner officially endorsed current Speaker Paul Ryan for president, prompting many to think that Ryan was about to enter the race. Now, Ryan has spoken out to officially squash these rumors and reveal what he thinks about frontrunner Donald Trump.

“It’s not me. I saw Boehner last night and I told him to knock it off,” Ryan said, according to Conservative Tribune. “It’s not going to be me. It should be someone who is running for president.”

Ryan also acknowledged the fact that the Republican primaries could likely result in a convention fight this summer, even though Trump said recently that a convention that doesn’t result in him becoming the nominee could result in a riot.

“We are getting our minds around the idea that this could very well become a reality,” Ryan said Thursday.

Ryan’s comments will come as a relief to Trump supporters, many of whom suspected the GOP establishment were trying to use him to defeat the Donald.
