If you think all actors are pampered elitists, then think again, because one of Hollywood’s biggest stars just proved he’s a real-life hero.

Australian actor Hugh Jackman, famous for his role as Wolverine in the X-Men film franchise, reportedly led efforts to save swimmers around Bondi Beach from a deadly riptide.

Jackman, 47, saw his own son, 15-year-old Oscar, getting into difficulty on the shores of one of Australia’s most popular beaches, and leapt into action. He not only grabbed hold of his own son but other swimmers nearby, and directed those further out to sea to head back to the beach.

The beach was eventually forced to close, but not before the local lifeguarding club were forced to undertake 43 rescues with only 12 lifeguards, leading locals to praise Jackman for his courage and quick thinking.
