The world was shocked and saddened on Sunday when former First Lady Nancy Reagan suddenly passed away at the age of 94. Afterwards, the Obamas disrespected her memory by refusing to release a statement honoring her for as long as they could.

Now, Michelle Obama is desperately trying to backtrack after receiving backlash from liberals and conservatives alike by trying to make it seem like she actually cared about Nancy.

“I just wanted to briefly express my sadness over the passing of former first lady Nancy Reagan,” Michelle said on Tuesday, according to People. “On a personal note, Mrs. Reagan also understood the value of mentoring. She warmly and willingly offered advice and encouragement to me as I settled in to my role as first lady, and I am so grateful for her kindness and generosity to me and my family over the years.”

While speaking at her own Let Girls Learn event, Michelle went on to praise Nancy for her many accomplishments.

“Mrs. Reagan was a woman of incredible strength and grace and she was a passionate advocate for so many important issues,” Michelle added. “For the example she set both during her time in the White House and beyond. Mrs. Reagan reminded us of the importance of women’s leadership at every level of society.”

Michelle, you aren’t fooling anyone. We know you and your husband had no respect for Nancy OR Ronald Reagan. Why don’t you just shut your mouth, and let Nancy rest in peace!
