As the GOP nomination fight soldiers on, the two candidates at the top have elevated their attacks against each other. Most recently, Donald Trump and Ted Cruz tweeted at each other about their wives, Melania Trump and Heidi Cruz who may unwillingly now become part of this campaign. (Watch the video below)

Here is what Donald Trump said about Ted Cruz:

Ted Cruz then fired back:

Cruz took things a step further when he said on CNN last night:

“If Donald wants to get in the character fight, he’s better off sticking with me. Because Heidi is way out of his league.”

The missive from Trump towards Cruz centers around Facebook ads the anti-Trump PAC ‘Make America Awesome’ created targeting voters in Utah. The ads contained a semi-nude photo of Melania from her time as a model. The ads were designed to reach very conservative Mormon voters.

It is not exactly clear what Trump was referring to, but some have suggested it is related in part to an incident from 2005 when a police officer found Heidi Cruz sitting ten feet from expressway traffic with her head in her hands. The officer said at the time, he felt Cruz was a danger to herself. It was later revealed that Heidi suffered from some clinical depression but has worked through it to now be a part of her husband’s campaign.

Tell us you think about these two candidates duking it out on Twitter.
