George Carlin had a different approach to comedy. He didn’t just make you laugh, he made you think too. And even if you didn’t agree with him, he had your mind working while you were laughing.

In the video below, Carlin tackles how we use certain words to sterilize the meanings of things and to make us feel better. He begins by speaking about the different terms of PTSD and how changing the labeling of it over time actually hurt the soldiers suffering from it.

The best part comes at the end when he talks about trying to make us feel better about aging and death. In typical Carlin style, he points out the nonsense and comes down hard on the BS!

He was so right. We use a lot of this language to make us feel better about ourselves. Sometimes these words are nothing more than putting lipstick on a pig!
