“Law & Order” and “Mission: Impossible” television star Steven Hill has passed away at the age of 94.

Hill was born as Solomon Krakowsy in Seattle on February 24, 1922. He graduated from the University of Washington, after which he moved to Chicago to begin a brief career in radio. However, Hill eventually ended up in New York City and began a career on Broadway with his 1946 debut “A Flag Is Born” where he worked alongside a young and unknown Marlon Brando.

Hill took on the role of Daniel Briggs for the first season of “Mission: Impossible” before he left and was replaced by Peter Graves.

However, Hill’s best known role was District Attorney Adam Schiff whom he played from 1990 to 2000. It is said he based his role off of real-life Manhattan district attorney Robert M. Morgenthau.

You can see how he really delved into the character below:

Hill is survived by his wife Rachel. He died today in Manhattan.
