A Chattanooga police officer has been shot and wounded this morning according to Chattanooga Police Depratment dispatchers.

Local NBC Affiliate WRCB reports that the officer has been taken to Erlanger. They believe his wounds are non-life threatening.

The shooting happened in the 100 block of Mission Avenue around 9:17 a.m. Eastern time.

Roads around Glenwood Dr. have been closed as Officers are still searching for the suspect.

Police describe the suspect as a black male with black clothing with white lettering on the clothing.

They are searching the area with K-9 units. SWAT is now being deployed to the search.
