California is preparing for political warfare with the Trump Administration even before the President-elect is sworn in. They aren’t even giving him a chance. Instead, the state’s legislators are clutching their pearls saying that California values need to be protected under the next Administration.
The left coast state hired Obama’s former Attorney General Eric Holder and his firm Covington and Burling as outside counsel to the legislature. The scandal plagued Holder is the only Attorney General to be held in contempt of Congress on both civil and criminal matters when he refused to be transparent with Obama’s gun running scheme known as Fast and Furious.
But, Judicial Watch is now on Holder’s track. The watchdog group exposed Hillary Clinton’s email scandal and other Obama Administration scandals the media attempted to hide. Now they have their eyes set on Holder’s involvement with the State of California.
They have filed a public records request for “all contracts between the California Legislature and former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder Jr. or Covington and Burling,” in addition to “all communications between the California Legislature and former U. S. Attorney General Eric Holder Jr. or Covington and Burling about the Legislature’s retention of Holder and/or Covington and Burling.”
Judicial Watch has a history of not allowing corrupt politicians to skate away. Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said they will “expose how California state legislators are wasting tax dollars to take care of another corrupt politician – Eric Holder – under the guise of resisting the rule of law on immigration and other matters.”
Fitton also pointed out that rather than using the law as a tool for justice, Holder has a history of uses is as a weapon to target political enemies.“His record at the Clinton and Obama Justice Departments demonstrates a willingness to bend the law in order to protect his political patrons,” Fitton said.
Holder’s contract with California also raises another problem. Isn’t this hire circumventing the Attorney General of California? Holder is not an elected official, so he should not be acting in the same capacity as one as a California Republican State Senator points out in the video below.
Holder’s track record of corruption was likely viewed as a good match for these California legislators who want to continue hiding illegal immigrants from justice. Judicial Watch has a history of exposing corruption, so it’ll be interesting to see what they unearth.
