Donald Trump issued an executive order “in order to protect Americans” that suspends the “issuance of Visas and Other Immigration Benefits to Nationals of Countries of Partricular Concern.”

The executive order specifically imposes a 90-day travel ban on citizens from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia, and Yemen. It also suspends the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program for 120 days and prohibits Syrian refugees from entering the United States.

It also calls for a review of the current visa and refugee programs citing that “numerous foreign-born individuals have been convicted or implicated in terrorism-related crimes since September 1, 2011.”

The ban is currently held up in court proceedings as lawyers argue over whether or not the executive order is legal.
