At one point during the 2016 campaign, Ben Carson and Donald Trump were bitter rivals. Now, thanks to the Senate finally getting around to it, Ben Carson will be President Trump’s Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development!

Despite contentious hearings with Carson, and delays by Democrats, the former surgeon was confirmed easily, with a 58-41 vote.

Carson received the support of a number of Democrats: Joe Manchin (W.Va.), Mark Warner (Va.), Heidi Heitkamp (N.D.), Sherrod Brown (Ohio), Jon Tester (Mont.), and Joe Donnelly (Ind.). Independent Sen. Angus King (Maine) joined these Democrats and every Senate Republican to give Carson final approval.

There are several more cabinet positions that need to be confirmed, but this is a big victory for Carson and President Trump.

If you’re thrilled that Ben Carson has finally been confirmed, share this with others and let them know the great news!
