Former First Lady Barbara Bush was laid to rest on Saturday after passing away last week at the age of 92. Her funeral was attended by the likes of Melania Trump, Barack and Michelle Obama, and Bill and Hillary Clinton, who each watched as stories were told about Barbara’s decades of service and philanthropy.

The Daily Caller reported that Barbara’s oldest son George W. Bush took to Instagram to share a photo showing members of the military honor guard carrying Barbara’s casket to her final resting place. The caption that he gave the image is sure to bring a tear to your eye!

Give Robin a hug for us, Mom.

“Give Robin a hug for us, Mom,” Bush wrote alongside the photo.

Bush was referring to his sister Robin, who passed away in 1953 after a battle with leukemia. She was only 3 years-old. Barbara was buried next to Robin after her funeral on Saturday.

Though the Bush family is devastated that Barbara is gone, they have clearly found solace in the fact that she has been reunited in Heaven with Robin, the little girl she lost so long ago.

Barbara had taken Robin to the doctor in 1953 when the little girl complained about feeling tired, and the diagnosis she received was incredibly shocking and abrupt. After being told that Robin had leukemia, George H.W. and Barbara were effectively told to take the toddler home to die.

“Her advice was to tell no one, go home, forget that Robin was sick, make her as comfortable as we could, love her — and let her gently slip away,” Barbara wrote in her 1994 memoir. “She said this would happen very quickly.”

The Bushes instead decided to fight and got Robin the best medical treatment available at the time. She was able to live another seven months before eventually passing away just before her 4th birthday.

It’s incredibly sad that Barbara and the rest of the Bush family had to go through this unspeakable tragedy, but the way that they were able to overcome it is inspiring. We’re glad that Barbara and Robin are together now and at peace!
